About SEY Coffee

Micro roastery and cafe serving a curated selection of clean, vibrant, and dynamic coffees. No laptops on weekends / limited on weekdays.

Located at 18 Grattan St, Brooklyn, NY 11206, SEY Coffee operates as a cafe serving Brooklyn in New York. This page gathers the practical details people usually look for before visiting: where it is, how to reach it, when it opens and how customers rate it. Besides its main category, the business also describes itself as coffee roastery, coffee shop, coffee wholesaler, so it may cover more than the name suggests.

Coffee in the United States is served by three kinds of places: national chains with drive-thrus and mobile ordering, independent neighborhood cafes that double as a workspace or a meeting spot, and specialty shops that roast their own beans or buy single-origin lots and brew them by pour-over, espresso or cold brew. Most open between 6 and 7 a.m. on weekdays, slightly later on weekends, and the busiest hour is the commute rush before 9. A drip coffee runs a few dollars, espresso drinks and specialty pours more, and tipping a dollar or a percentage on the card reader is customary but not required. Nearly every cafe offers free Wi-Fi, though some limit laptop seating at peak times or on weekends, and outlets are often the scarce resource.

Hours are published for 7 days a week. Typical hours are 7 am–5 pm. Hours in the United States do change around federal holidays and long weekends, so a quick call before a special trip is sensible. You can reach SEY Coffee at (347) 871-1611; calling is usually the quickest way to ask about availability, prices or directions. Its website is sey.coffee, where you may find menus, price lists or booking options.

On Google it holds a rating of 4.6 out of 5 from 1,161 reviews, which is a strong result for a cafe in Brooklyn and suggests consistent service.

Brooklyn is in New York, in the Northeast, where four distinct seasons shape local life: hot humid summers, snowy winters that can close businesses for a day, and a dense pattern of towns where walking, transit and street parking all matter. US addresses list the street number and name, then the city, state abbreviation and ZIP code, and Brooklyn follows the same pattern; a suite or apartment number such as Ste 200 refers to a unit inside the building. The map link on this page shows the exact spot.

One of the best coffee experiences in New York City! Highly recommend! Naomi was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to give me the best recommendations for the beans I should buy and bring home with me and why. The whole staff was very kind and hospitality was definitely a high point compared to other shops in town. I’ll absolutely be back in the future next time I’m in NYC!

We ordered an Americano and a latte, and both were well made and nicely balanced. Each coffee came with a small glass of sparkling water, which was a thoughtful touch. We also got the last cinnamon bun of the day. It was soft inside, lightly crisp on the outside, and not overly sweet. I’d definitely come back earlier next time to try more of their pastries. A fun surprise was seeing Yunnan floral tea on the menu. Another unique detail is that laptops aren’t allowed on weekends, making the café feel much more social and relaxing. A great spot if you’re looking for quality coffee and a peaceful atmosphere.

One of the best coffee shops I’ve ever visited. The hot chocolate is the best I’ve ever had. Delicious sparkling water. Music in the background not too loud yet present. Clean, spacious, peaceful. Great place. ❣️

TL/DR: fantastic coffee, plus the best sparkling water I have ever had?! Easily one of the best two cortados I had in NYC this weekend. (Other one being Suited NYC). Love the vibe of the space as well — definitely encouraged me to take my time, enjoy the coffee, the space, and the person next to me equally enjoying their coffee who ended up chatting with me. Another review described my favourite part though: the water! I know it is weird but I genuinely hope SEY replies with an explanation of their amazing sparkling water! “The best part was that they serve it with a free cup of sparkling water. Taking a sip of the coffee and then a sip of the sparkling water added this unexpected dimension. Almost like a deconstructed espresso tonic. For whatever reason, the fizz gave it a lightly sweet finish that wasn't there on its own.” I have had plenty of coffees in Italy with sparkling water on the side, and I have never had the lightly sweet finish feeling of SEY’s water. If SEY could explain this I would be super grateful because when I asked the barista in between customers he simply said “It’s triple filtered New York City tap water…” but that doesn’t explain the carbonation & the s

Coffee Tasting Log 6 months ago

Went to try Sey’s famous Nordic style Roasts only to find a fairly limited bean menu (2 beans, both washed processed from South America) and the fact that they only do Aeropress (no pour-overs). With that said, the brew was pretty good. I had their Wilson Alba Pink Bourbon from Colombia ($15.50). Well balanced fruity acidity. I think a V60 might have made for slight more clear, focused brew, but I enjoyed the coffee. They also have a small pastry case, and the pastry I got was also tasty.
